Rural Bhutan towards urbanization

This weekend I had the opportunity to visit my friend Dorji Dendup who is living in Dechen Colling around 7 km from down town and we had a nice time talking to the local people about their economical activities. We visited local labours on Sunday afternoon and today we know more about traditional construction!

During our field trip we realized that new suburbs are growing around the capital and in a near future there will be considerable demands regarding the improvement of the infra-structures. It is important to consider that population migration from rural Bhutan to the biggest cities are already a reality and there is needs for an adequate urban planning taking into account the population habits and traditions. Typical construction and respective energy and sanitation might be integrated with the landscape.
